Our school district is experiencing tremendous enrollment growth. We are a popular school district with lots of housing growth; with that growth comes families with children. Over the next ten years PLSAS is expecting an additional 2,185 students spread across all grade levels (2017/18 – 2026/27). Long-term facilities planning is underway, with the district's Facilities Task Force meeting to study enrollment and demographic data. The Task Force will identify needs, generate ideas and provide input to a Facilities Design. There will be opportunities for the public to review options and provide input before Board action this spring. More information.
Five Hawks Elementary
Five Hawks Elementary and Outdoor Learning Center is a place where a welcoming community is built and environmental learning is fostered.
Our mission is to provide opportunities that will enhance learning in a safe and caring environment by helping each student reach his/her potential while striving to become respectful citizens in a diverse society.
Five Hawks is proud to be a 2014 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School that supports Environmental Education, as well as a Minnesota Department of Education Reward School. An E-STEM school, students at Five Hawks receive instruction and learning focused on inquiry and real-world problem solving in the 21st Century, applying hands-on science, technology, engineering and mathematical practices with projects and field experiences related to the environment.
The Outdoor Learning Center is located directly behind Five Hawks and features trails, ponds and foot bridges which are actively used by students for Environmental Education. This area is proudly maintained by our students.
