Welcome to Glendale Elementary School!

My name is Sam Richardson and I have been the principal at Glendale since 2009. I have my Educational Specialist degree from the University of St. Thomas in K-12 administration. I have also served as a lead teacher providing staff development support to teachers. Prior to joining Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools, I worked in Edina, Vancouver, WA and Eastern Carver County school districts.

Glendale Elementary, located in Savage, is a great place to be a student. The school is truly a community of learners with the staff mission to “Celebrate the Learner’s Journey.” Glendale serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade. We are fortunate to have amazing partnerships with many organizations, including our active PTC (Parent.Teacher.Child) and DOGS (Dads of Great Students) groups that support learning opportunities for our students. McColl Pond Environmental Learning Center is located across from the school providing a terrific resource for Environmental Education.

At Glendale, students experience individualized instruction in a caring, nurturing environment. Our district incorporates E-STEM throughout all grades, providing Environmental Education, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math in all curricular areas. A balanced literacy approach to reading instruction supports students at all reading levels to grow. Daily math instruction with the Math Expressions curriculum and science instruction with National Geographic's series provide high quality, current content. Students receive specialist time in the areas of art, music, physical education and media each week. Our goal is to help prepare students to be future ready!!

My wife and I have four children. We enjoy spending time with the kids and attending their activities. In my spare time, I enjoy playing and watching sports, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me either by phone or e-mail. You can also check out my blog that I update with current happenings at Glendale.

Thank you for your continued support! We look forward to your next visit to Glendale!
