Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools provides a high-quality education for students in grades E-12. Our district is known for its E-STEM curriculum, which stands for Environmental Education, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

¡Hola! ¡Bienvenidos a La ola del lago!

Hello and welcome to La ola del lago, Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools' Spanish Immersion school! Currently housed in Edgewood School, La ola del lago operates Kindergarten through second grade, with plans to add another grade level each year until grade five.

My name is Richie Kucinski, and this is my second year as Edgewood’s building administrator. I could not ask for a more positive school district and passionate colleagues to work with. At La ola del lago, all stakeholders of our school community are deeply committed to creating meaningful learning experiences for our most important asset – our students!

I hold an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration [along with my K-12 MN Administrative and Superintendent Licenses], and am currently pursuing a Doctoral Degree (Ed.D.) from Bethel University. Prior to joining Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools, I taught Kindergarten, first, and fourth grades in Forest Lake and Spring Lake Park. I also served in various leadership roles such as superintendent intern, dean of students, Spanish immersion coordinator, and curriculum lead.

My wife, Erin, and I have three children, Elisia, Amelia, and Ezra, and enjoy attending all of their activities. We are active members of the YMCA and enjoy spending time with friends and extended family. In my spare time, I enjoy cycling, running, rollerblading, cheering for the Twins and Vikings, and participating in any outdoor activity.

At La ola del lago, we are passionate about helping each and every student learn and grow. We are committed to providing each child a safe and nurturing environment that fosters creativity, play, and innovation. Our overarching goal is that all students, families, employees, and community members – everyone who walks through our doors – feel an overwhelming sense of belonging.

I would encourage you to follow us on Twitter @RKucinski and “like” our Edgewood School/La ola del lago Facebook page to stay up to date with the latest news, announcements, educational resources, as well as catch a glimpse of our phenomenal staff and students:

If there is anything I can help you out with over the course of the school year, or if you have any questions about Spanish immersion or early learning education, I am always happy to hear from you.

Thank you for your continued support; we look forward to your next visit to Edgewood/La ola del lago!
