Jeffers Pond Elementary
Named a 2013 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School, Jeffers Pond is set amongst beautiful forest and wetland areas. Our school’s mission is to be a caring, environmentally focused community where social learning empowers academic learning and all individuals are challenged to reach their full potential as productive members of society.
Jeffers Pond is proud to be part of a 2013 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools Sustainability District that supports Environmental Education. An E-STEM school, students at Jeffers Pond receive instruction and learning focused on inquiry and real-world problem solving in the 21st Century, applying hands-on science, technology, engineering and mathematical practices with projects and field experiences related to the environment.
Our school embraces the E-STEM philosophy through many projects from the student Jr. Naturalist's creation of chickadee landing to studying measurement through the creation of bat houses.
Our school's strong focus on environmental learning blends harmoniously with our surroundings. The school is surrounded by ponds, a stream, prairie areas, wetland and multiple walking paths.
